Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR)
Clear Water provides innovative solutions for the treatment of coal combustion residual (CCR) site water.
Each CCR site has its own unique challenges and Clear Water can provide a wide variety of treatment technologies for surface, interstitial, and contact water to ensure compliance for the duration of the closure project.
Clear Water will develop the most efficient, cost- effective, and environmentally friendly solution available in conjunction with the owner, closure contractor, and engineers. CCR treatment systems are designed to meet the stringent discharge parameters the EPA, state, and local regulators require for discharging to receiving waters.
Treatment of CCR waters involves several key processes to ensure that the water meets environmental and safety standards. This can include the following:
- Mechanical Filtration
- Chemical treatment for suspended contaminants (coagulants and flocculants).
- Oxidative/Reductive chemical treatment.
- Settling and separation to reduce the concentration of contaminants.
- pH adjustment to facilitate dissolved contaminant removal or discharge criteria.
- Specialty media. GAC, IEAA, Zeolites, and ion exchange resins for metals removal.
Clear Water also offers industry-leading automation equipment. With remote monitoring and data logging capabilities, it allows for efficient and safe operation of the treatment system. Clear Water manufactures equipment at our production facility in Michigan, allowing us to truly create a custom solution for any project. Systems are designed to be scalable to meet any potential changes in project conditions.
